Introduction

If you select the right products and plan and anyone can gain weight - the only reason you are not putting on the lbs (yet!) is because you haven't found a plan or products that are right for you.

By following the advice on this site (or using the healthy weight gain manual) you will gain weight. 

Whether that is by adding products, like some of the examples below, focussing on what you eat or spending time in the gym.

There are 3 main ways to achieve healthy lasting weight gain :

Group A - All over weight gain

By far the majority of people who contact us just want to gain weight all over. They don't particularly want to spend hours in the gym. or lift weights at home - but just want to find a way in which they can "fill out" a bit.

If you just want to gain weight then there are 2 ways to achieve this:

  1. Eat the right foods at the right time

    It's often just a few simple changes that can have dramatic results.

    It is easy to select the wrong foods, or force yourself to eat large meals, when just a few minor changes could have helped you gain weight easily

  2. Adding weight gain products

    Adding products designed to help you put on weight is by far the easiest way to get results.  You will probably have noticed there are hundreds, and hundreds, of different weight gain products available.

    If you just want to put on weight then the key is to select products which will provide you with extra calories in a healthy way.  Ideally you need to add products which are complete 'meals' containing all the different ingredients (carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, etc.).  Avoid the protein based drinks as they simply won't work (except if you go to the gym - see below).

I've been underweight since childhood.

I like to play basketball, but I always had strong knee pain during the game and after.

Group B -  Gaining weight (and shape) in the Gym

Gaining weight through building muscle in the gym or at home is a very effective way to look fantastic.

However you will need to focus on your diet as well as using the right weight training plan.

 

Sport and Diet

The importance of what you eat and when can not be overstated. 

If there is one item you should never do (as for any other sport) is to start on an empty tank.  Not only will you be draining your system of energy - you will also not get the best possible results.

Forget all the comments on the "body building supplement" sites, etc. You don't need to spend a fortune on artificial drinks, chemically enhanced products, etc.  Just by following some simply nutritional steps you can get great results, and help your health in the long run.

Before any activity do take in some easily absorbed carbohydrates - the best time to have protein is within 1 1/2 hour after training, as your muscles need high quality protein to rebuild.

Training Plan

When you start your weight gaining plan most people will 'fill out' all over initially - but at some stage (how quickly varies from person to person) you need to think about how to make sure you get a nice shape. For example if you want to avoid having the extra weight appearing around your waist. 

But if you want to get a nice shape, possibly muscles, the only way is to spend some time in the gym or working with weights at home.

If you do join the gym your local fitness instructor might be able to provide advice (but do check what experience he or she has as most tend to specialise in weight loss).

Alternatively there are a variety of downloadable manuals

Some specialise in providing advice for training with weights at home, and some on how to use the right equipment in the gym. They are very effective and will really speed up your results.
