The Healthy Weight Gain Plan

What to eat to gain weight.....

How come ....

You can eat the same or more than your friends and not gain any weight?

We speak to many people every day who are desperate to gain weight - and the one comment they absolutely hate is

"I wish I was like you - I just have to look at food to put on weight"

So what is the secret? Why do some people gain weight quickly and others don't?

FACT 1 - Eating more doesn't work

Eating more, fatty, carbohydrate, protein based, sugary foods or drinks tends to be the first recommendation most people hear.

Go into most shops and the assistant (usually without any training) will recommend a weight gain drink with the most calories.

So how come that you can buy lots of expensive high calorie drinks or force yourself to eat more and you still don't gain weight ?

The explanation is simple : You need to eat the right type of extra calories - at exactly the right level for you - to gain weight.

FACT 2 - You are not absorbing everything

You are wasting a proportion of the food (or weight gain products) you eat and drink - as it goes straight through your system

How much you are wasting will depend on your individual circumstances.

Some people have great absorption levels - just about everything they eat is converted into energy or stored (as extra weight).  Whereas other people just don't absorb - they can eat and eat and just won't gain weight.

You can affect the way your body absorbs - and if you have poor absorption rates this can generate very fast results.  (as well as helping your health)

FACT 3  - Some people gain weight all over and some don't

How you gain weight will depend on your natural body shape.  There is a difference between men and women.  And within women there are 3 basic body shapes - some lucky ones will gain weight all over, whereas others will end up with skinny legs or fat hips.

If you know what your body shape is - then you will know how to make certain you eat the right foods, and do the right exercises : to get the shape you have always wanted.

Where do you start ? ....

The key to achieving fast, lasting weight gain results is to use a plan designed to work for your own individual needs.

Because that way you won't waste any time or money buying the wrong weight gain drinks, eating the wrong foods or eating at the wrong time.

You will know what and when to eat, if you need to go to the gym and how to improve the way you absorb

Simply follow these 3 easy steps

and know exactly how to gain weight :

1  Find out.....  why you are not gaining weight.

The first step to your plan is to find out why you are not putting on weight.

Even before thinking about extra calories or more food make sure your body is absorbing everything.   Otherwise it goes in one end and.... (you get the message)

A condition called negative nutrition affects your ability to absorb nutrients from food.

If you are not absorbing to the max then you won't be getting the maximum benefit from the food you eat.  You can eat and eat but if your body isn't absorbing nutrients you won't gain weight.

(What causes negative nutrition? Absorption can be affected by many factors:

Are you a smoker?

Coffee drinker?

Drink alcohol?

Eat fast food?

Eat processed food?

Do you suffer from stress?

Drink Fizzy Drinks?

Take prescription medicine?

Have you tried gaining weight before without success?

A key item to your weight gain plan will be to find out if any of these are slowing down your weight gain process.

It could be you simply need to take in more of the right calories, on the other hand it could well be that however many calories you take in you won't gain weight - if your absorption rates are not at their best.

That is why the first part of your plan is to do a "wellness assessment" which will identify any factors which could be slowing down the way you absorb food.

Often focussing on making just a few small changes to improve your absorption can be the quickest way to gain weight.

2      Find out..... what you need to eat and when.

Simply adding extra calories is not enough - you need to know exactly how many calories you need each day to gain weight. For example ignore all the myths about having to take in an extra 2000, 3000 or more calories per day.

If you take in the right amount of calories for you weight gain can be easy and effective. Which is why you will need to identify exactly how much energy you burn based on your own individual circumstances.

Imagine you are 26 years old .......

You work in an office, you are 5 ft 6 tall and weigh 49 kg

How many calories do you need to eat to put on weight ?

- 1700 ?

- 1950 ?

- 2500 ?

- 3500 ?

- 7000 ?

Wouldn't it be useful if you were this person to know the answer?

So, why is this important ?

As you can imagine with over 10,000 weight gain recommendation we have seen people in all shapes and size.

Ranging from people skipping meals to those eating loads.  Ranging from people who work in an office and don't do any sports, to those who have a very physically demanding job - and play sports at least a couple of times per week.

But whatever your position - you need to know your energy balance.  Which is why a key element of our plan is to help you work this out - because then you will know : are you eating enough or to little?

Once you know this you can decide on your plan of action

  • If you are not eating enough..

     - Then you need to increase the amount you eat, at the right time, with the right foods

     - or add the right weight gain drinks.

  • But what if you are already eating enough ?

Then you know that adding more calories (in a drink or meal form) is a waste of time and you need to concentrate on other factors - like what or when you eat or how you absorb.

Based on this you can then make an educated decision - no more guessing or getting the wrong advice.

3      Plan for best results

Based on the above 2 points you will know the key items you need to focus on to gain weight.

These will be individual to you (maybe you simply need to eat more, maybe you need to change what you eat or maybe you need to focus on boosting absorption...)

Once you know your own weight gain 'hurdles' simply combine your action plan into a plan that works and start gaining weight.

The 'Women’s weight gain guide'

One of the best (and most specialised) plans on the market specifically designed for women is Jayna's weight gain guide.

Jayna wrote the plan based on personal experience – she had always been skinny, (like many women) hoped that after having had a baby she would put on weight and had tried lots of different supplements.

Based on her experience she wrote a ‘manual’ containing detailed diet plans, as well as advice on the right exercise to get shape & curves.
